\”Personality Disorders\”

Explain the diagnostic criteria for your assigned personality disorder
Antisocial personality disorder is diagnosed to follow a criteria with three steps. The first step entails conducting a psychological evaluation whereby the patient’s family history, behavioral patterns, relationships, thoughts, and feelings are explored. The second step entails evaluating personal and medical history. The final step entails matching the symptoms that the patient presented against those presented in DSM-5 with the focus being on the symptoms that match and those that do not match (Sadock, B., Sadock, V. & Ruiz, 2014)Antisocial Personality Disorder Paper .
Explain the evidenced-based psychotherapy and psychopharmacologic treatment for your assigned personality disorder
The treatment for antisocial personality disorder is dependent on each patient’s circumstances and situation to include the presenting symptoms, their severity and whether the patient is willing to receive treatment. Although there is no FDA approved medication targeted at the condition, prescriptions can be presented for accompanying conditions that could include anxiety, depression and aggression. It is important to note that the use of medication is not encouraged since it could be abused (Sperry, 2016). Treatment for the condition typically involves psychotherapy whereby the patient is guided by a professional therapist to address the concerns presented by the disorder (Gabbard, 2014).
Describe clinical features from a client that led you to believe this client had this disorder. Align the clinical features with the DSM-5 criteria
DSM-5 presents seven clinical features that should be noted in antisocial personality disorder diagnosis. The first feature is that the patient’s age must exceed 18 years with antisocial behavior exhibited for at least three years. The second feature is the patient not being remorseful. The third feature is the patient being irresponsible such as failing to hold a job or failing to meet financial responsibilities. The fourth feature is a reckless disregard for safety. The fifth feature is irritable and aggressive condition that includes violent physical fights without matching provocations. The sixth feature is impulsiveness. The seventh feature is perpetual deceit. The final feature is disregarding social norms that could see the patient being arrested and jailed often (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
