Blood Circulation Misconception in Biology

One of the common misconceptions in circulation is that when blood lacks oxygen it turns blue. The misconception is held mainly by students in the lower grades (Kumandaş, Armagan and Lane, 351). Usually, the misconception is influenced by the appearance of the veins underneath the skin. Some people believe that the blue color occurs because the veins carry de-oxygenated blood to the heart (Kumandaş, Armagan and Lane, 351).
